
Garrett Gravesen
An entrepreneur by heart, Garrett is an Atlanta native with a passion for international travel which has taken him across 6 continents to 30 countries where he has explored the beaches of Thailand, encountered mountain gorillas hiking in Rwanda and has been piranha fishing in the Amazon in Brazil. While an undergrad at UGA, Garrett became the youngest Student Body President in school history and was the Graduation Day Speaker for a crowd of more than 30,000 people. Professionally, Garrett has done investment banking for Merrill Lynch and Co. in Hong Kong, worked at an AIDS orphanage in Africa, spent time in Latin America writing his 1st book, and most recently has co-founded the non-profit organization H.E.R.O. for Children in Atlanta, Georgia.
H.E.R.O. for Children, Inc. is the only non-profit
organization in the State of Georgia solely
dedicated to improving the quality of life for
children infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
H.E.R.O. has created the State of Georgia's only
mentoring program for Children with HIV/AIDS and
garnered the attention of Atlanta Mayor Shirley
Franklin, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue, and 2005
Miss Universe Natalie Glebova.
Currently, H.E.R.O. has created the largest
student run philanthropies supporting children
with HIV/AIDS at both the University of Georgia,
and the Georgia Institute of Technology and works
with H.E.R.O. board members UGA Coach Mark Richt,
Georgia Tech Coach Paul Hewitt, and Georgia legend
Vince Dooley. Most recently H.E.R.O. for Children
was invited to present their work focused on
quality of life care for Pediatric AIDS at opening
night of a United Nations Conference and later at
an International conference in India attended by
delegates from more than 90 countries around the
world.
