Ginger Howard '87
Ginger Howard began her love for retail in high school in Waycross, Georgia, where she worked for a family owned department store.
She went to UGA and majored in Fashion Merchandising. Her junior year, she began working in a small Athens boutique, JJ’s. After graduating in 1987, Ginger stayed in Athens and became the manager. She then moved to Alexandria, Virginia where she was the assistant manager of an exclusive boutique owned by designer Frankie Welch.
Being homesick for the South, Ginger returned to Athens and managed JJ’s for the next six years. She then worked for Shaw’s Inc. as a buyer for women’s stores throughout the Southeast. In March of 1993, she ventured out on her own and started Ginger Howard Company….a Southern buying office which represented twenty five stores. She traveled to New York monthly and spent much of the time visiting the stores.
Ginger moved to Atlanta in 1996 and began a trunk show business. She traveled all over the Southeast selling beautiful clothes in the comfort of people’s homes. In March of 2001, she opened Ginger Howard Selections, a boutique specializing in unique women’s apparel and accessories located on Peachtree Road in Buckhead.
