Greetings South Florida Bulldogs!
Take a second and clear your mind of your obligations and responsibilities, whether it is the stress of your job, the adventure of raising children, or the trials of everyday life. Reminisce on the times when things were simpler and you ate, slept, and lived all that is Athens and the University of Georgia! Back in those days, your trouble consisted of whether to spend your time downtown with friends or to study for that test you had at 10:00 AM the next morning. As you reflect, remember all the good times like rising early for football games in Sanford Stadium, staying up till 1:00 AM wishing you hadn’t procrastinated on that paper, and staying up late talking with friends.
Now, I know you are asking yourself, how can I enjoy those good times from UGA now that I am living in South Florida and Athens is over 500 miles away? Well, you are in luck, the Miami Chapter of the Alumni Association is looking to plan several events to connect you with fellow Dawgs, give back to the community, and form great new UGA memories.
Recently, the Miami Chapter of the UGA Alumni Association had their first meeting. This Bulldogs After Business Hours event was a lot of fun as alumni from all over South Florida came out! A special thanks goes out to Holly Hunt ’07 and Debby Hutchins ’71 for coming early to help set up. Also, congratulations to our prize winners for the night, Jonathan Davidson ’05 and Travis Watkins ’07.
Our next event is just around the corner. This meeting will be focused on Chapter Planning and Leadership. At the meeting, we will be looking to find out what kind of events you are interested in hosting. We will also be looking to fill chapter leadership board positions. Vacant positions include: Vice President, Communications Chair, Event Coordinators (Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach), and a Young Alumni Representative (or Alumni Families Representative). If you are interested in chapter leadership, please send an e-mail to edarren15@gmail.com with any positions you may be considering.
