Hot off the presses - pictures from this year's Freshmen Send Off!  On July 23rd, incoming freshmen and their families were welcomed into the Bulldog Family by local UGA alumni and friends.  Metro Atlanta Chapter President Ron Jones spoke on behalf on the chapter.  An official representative of the Parents and Families Association offered a greeting, as well as Lyndsey Adams, secretary of the Student Alumni Association.  Thank you to everyone who participated in this wonderful event.  Most importantly, welcome to our newest UGA students!  Go Dawgs!

This past weekend, the Metro Atlanta Chapter attended the UGA Alumni Leadership Assembly in Athens. It was great meeting members of other chapters and exchanging ideas on how to make our chapters better.

The highlight of the assembly was the Saturday awards dinner. There was great news on two fronts for the Metro Atlanta Chapter. First, the Metro Atlanta Chapter was selected as the 2012 Alumni Chapter of the Year. It was an honor for me to accept the award on behalf of the Chapter. I want to personally thank and congratulate all of the members of the Chapter Board for the hard work, support and efforts that they provided over the course of the past year. I also want to thank the many Atlanta area alumni who have volunteered their time and efforts by serving on various committees or by attending our events. Finally, I want to thank Meredith Carr, Realenn Watters, and Rosemary Brown of the Atlanta Alumni Office for their support.

As proud as we are of winning the Chapter of the Year award, we are even more proud that Donny Cole was selected as Volunteer of the Year. Donny has done such a great job as our chair of the Student Involvement/Admissions Committee. He has worked hard to develop a committee of trained volunteers that are able to represent UGA at high school career fairs, Keys to the Dawg House events, freshmen send-offs, and many other events that are vital to raising the profile of UGA among potential students and their parents. There is not anyone more deserving of this award than Donny Cole. Congratulations Donny!
