05.17.2012 A UGA LICENSE PLATE IN NORTH CAROLINA
WE STILL HAVE 170 PLATES TO GO!
We need your immediate participation to make this happen! Let’s make this UGA License Plate Campaign a success in the next 30 days!
The UGA Alumni Association Chapters based in North Carolina are taking the lead to facilitate the establishment of a North Carolina license plate with the University of Georgia logo. Upon receipt of 300 or more applications for the University of Georgia plate, the Division of Motor Vehicles will be authorized to issue a license plate bearing the UGA “G” insignia.
An additional fee of $25 is charged for the issuance of each collegiate plate. For a personalized plate, the fee is $55.
We assure you of our commitment to acquire a UGA North Carolina license plate. Only with your immediate participation can we meet our goal within the next 30 days!
The process is the following:
•Please click here and print out the NC DMV Application for a Collegiate Insignia License Plate.
•Be sure to fill in the College Name, then complete the document with your personal and vehicle information.
•You must complete a separate form for each vehicle in your household.
•Send your completed form(s) and one check payable to the University of Georgia to:
Ms. Shea Landers
University of Georgia Alumni Association
298 S. Hull Street
Athens, Ga. 30602
Once UGA receives 300 Applications, they will immediately send the applications and the necessary funds to the NC DMV. We will finally have a UGA License Plate in North Carolina!
Tell your fellow Dawgs and friends! We must be successful! I am tired of seeing NC license plates for Florida Gators, Auburn Tigers, and South Carolina Gamecocks.
Thank you for your immediate assistance on this matter.
Sincerely,
Gary Pasek '76

Not only are we playing to finish this great season on a positive note and setting the course for an even better 2012 season, we are playing to continue the dominance of the SEC against the Big Ten. This should be a very competitive football game so the Dawgs need our support. The Michigan State alumni and friends will also be at the Dilworth Neighborhood Grille for the bowl game to cheer on their Spartans.
In addition, the alumni and friends of Michigan State Charlotte Chapter have challenged the UGA Alumni Association Charlotte Chapter to a food drive at the game watching party. Please bring non-perishable foods to benefit the Second Harvest Foodbank of Metrolina. The management of Dilworth Neighborhood Grille has agreed to award a monetary prize to the alumni chapter that brings in the most food for the Food Drive.

Dear fellow Alums,
Beginning with this update, I will be updating you on a biweekly basis on your Chapter Executive Council’s activities and the future Charlotte Chapter events, outings, and activities. So here we go!
The Charlotte EC is a vibrant and diverse group. Jen Wu, Holt Parham, Todd Rose, Charles Watson, and Sandy Pasek joined me on the EC late 2010. They have worked hard for you in the planning and execution of the events we all enjoyed during the first nine months of this year. We have recently added four new members to the EC, Mark Mahoney, Abby Polak, Beth Blickenstaff, and Paul Hoffman, to bring even more new ideas and energy to your EC to insure your Chapter continues to build on its current momentum and we continue to thrive. Please recognize your fellow alums who have agreed to take a leadership position in your Chapter. Should you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact anyone on the EC. We can only grow as a Chapter with input from you.
We will communicate with you primarily through E-mail, Facebook, and the UGA Alumni / Charlotte Chapter website. The Facebook page is titled “University of Georgia Charlotte Area Alumni and Friends”. I am also beginning to work with Linked In as a communication tool. All this new technology and social media is sometimes too much to handle for a 1976 UGA graduate…but I am trying my best to keep up with our younger Alums. Jen Wu is providing the necessary leadership regarding our communications with the Chapter.
Our list of Events and Outings continues to grow. I hope and trust that you will identify with one or more and become an active UGA Alum. Come join us!!!
Game Watching Parties:
Our Game Watching continues to take place at the Dilworth Neighborhood Grille. Please watch for the game time and come join the party. Jen Wu and Bryan Stone, former Chapter President, host this event.

Homecoming Bus Trip:
We are in the final stages of planning for a Charlotte Chapter Bus Trip to the Homecoming game on Nov. 5 vs New Mexico State. Holt Parham is hosting this event and you will be receiving an Evite soon. You are invited to come to Athens and join the Pasek family tailgate before and/or after the game.

You can see that your EC is busy trying to increase the activity of the Charlotte Chapter. Please join us!!! You will have a good time and make new Bulldog friends.
Regarding Activities, your EC has identified two community activities that we need your assistance for us to be successful as a Chapter.
Volunteer Opportunities:
We are trying to identify a date and time (perhaps, Sat. Oct. 15 in the morning) where we can be of assistance to the Habitat for Humanity. I would like to see this effort grow over the next few years within the Charlotte Chapter. Watch for more information on this activity.
The Men’s Shelter of Charlotte has several new opportunities. We have two opportunities readily available to us. First, we can collect socks at each of our events. This is ALWAYS a huge need. Bulldog Breakfast at Original Pancake House and Bulldog Lunch Uptown will be shutdown temporarily and retooled. We are brainstorming new ideas to make these events more attractive to you. Watch for updates on these two events in the coming months.
Alumni and Friends Golf Outing:
A Charlotte Chapter Alumni and Friends Golf Outing will take place on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Stonebridge Golf Club. I will be the host for this event. An Evite will be forthcoming. I hope you will come join me for a round of golf during our only off weekend for football.
Holiday Social:
On Wed. Dec. 14, the Charlotte Chapter and the Terry College Alumni will join together for a Holiday Social to celebrate 2011 at the Charlotte City Club. We will be inviting senior UGA administrators to come join us at this holiday event. It is my desire that this Social will become a Charlotte Chapter tradition.
Evening with Coach Vince Dooley:
We have had preliminary discussions regarding the Charlotte Chapter hosting an evening with Coach Vince Dooley. Once we receive dates from Coach Dooley, our planning will begin in earnest.
You can see that your EC is busy trying to increase the activity of the Charlotte Chapter. Please join us!!! You will have a good time and make new Bulldog friends.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Regarding Activities, your EC has identified two community activities that we need your assistance for us to be successful as a Chapter.
Once we have a big collection of socks, a group can visit the Men’s Shelter to deliver the socks and stay for lunch. This is a new program for volunteers recently started. The Charlotte Chapter will begin collecting socks at each event/outing going forward. Sandy Pasek has taken the lead on this community activity.
As I said earlier, the Charlotte Chapter can only be as good and strong as you make it by your participation. I hope you will find these biweekly updates helpful as you plan your calendars going forward.
THIS IS YOUR CHAPTER!!! Goooooooo Dawgs!!!!
Sincerely,
Gary
