SAA FAQs

What is the Student Alumni Association (SAA)?

SAA is an association for UGA students to network and engage with UGA alumni. Programs such as Dinner with a Dozen Dawgs, G Book Traditions, Ring Week, BEAT shirts giveaways and Graduation activities are coordinated by and for SAA participants.

How do I become a part of SAA?

Make your Class Gift today! Annual charitable gifts qualify students to take part in the myriad of programs and opportunities offered. These gifts, combined with additional support from alumni and friends, help to engage students in activities which enhance UGA experiences and build lasting traditions.

I have always been a member of the Student Alumni Association and enjoyed the giveaways, free dinners and member appreciation. Will that change now that I'm giving a gift instead making a dues payment?

No! We love engaging students and offering lots of ways to keep you connected. You will still be invited to events and programs designed to connect you with your Alumni Association and fellow Georgia Bulldogs. BEAT Shirts, SAA shirts, SAA appreciation, Dinner with a Dozen Dawgs, Ghost Tour, the UGA Class Ring and more will remain the same for you.

The UGA Alumni Association's new funding model, one based on charitable gifts instead of dues payments, is a positive change and opens opportunities for expanded programs and resources. When you become a part of SAA or renew your support for SAA, you are a part of this same great organization.

Don't forget the leadership opportunities with the Student Alumni Council as well. Applications are submitted in March and interviews take place in April.

Tell me more about SAA and Senior Signature.

Members of the Class of 2014, 2013 and 2012 look forward to their senior year at UGA to participate in Senior Signature. Senior class giving has been a tradition at UGA since 1885 beginning with the donation of trees and physical landmarks on campus. Senior giving, to this day, is a way for seniors to give back to UGA for all that it has invested in them and pay tribute to their time as a student -- it is your final step as part Student Alumni Association! The Senior Signature campaign has been in existence since 1991 and was created to recognize UGA senior donors en masse while also paying tribute to individual members of a graduating class. This is accomplished through the Senior Class Plaques which are on display in Tate Plaza.

Can I designate my SAA gift to benefit my School, College or
Degree Program?

Yes! How great is it that you are able to choose what to support at UGA with the click of a button?

The structure, purpose and function of the Student Alumni Association remains the same. When you give your minimum gift of $20.00, it will go toward your class giving total. You can also elect which fund it will benefit. SAA empowers you to give and make a difference at UGA.

I've enjoyed the benefits of membership like discounts.
Will I still have access to those?

The Bulldog Benefits program (discounts) will be discontinued on July 1, 2011. All Life members and Annual/Student members who have paid dues and hold membership cards that are active between January 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010 will continue to be eligible for discounts and benefits until the end of the program. Some businesses may continue to offer discounts to UGA alumni at their own discretion.

Why should I give to UGA and be a part of the Student Alumni Association?

Simply put -- why should you not? Being a part of SAA is a wonderfully unique way to make a strong connection to your university (and future alma mater) early. Events and programs will connect you with alumni from all over the world. We still have our freebies and awesome giveaways, but we're also here to get you ready for life after UGA, you know -- the rest of your life!

Giving to your alma mater is very important. Student Alumni Association participants know that UGA is already one of the biggest influences in their lives. Ensuring that culture, community and tradition for generations to come starts now.
