The UGA Alumni Association
Athens Chapter invites you to the
2013 Dawg Day of Service
Each year, hundreds of UGA students gather for a "Dawg Day of Service" and volunteer with a variety of organizations and projects in the Athens community. UGA Alumni Association chapters across the country also plan volunteer events to give back to their local communities.

This year, the Athens Area Chapter has partnered with Books for Keeps to help improve the Athens community. The chapter will assist with the nonprofit organization's annual book sale.

Books for Keeps provides reading material for local youth - especially during the summer when children don't have access to school libraries. What began as a single UGA alumna gathering books for a young girl, has now grown to provide more than 12,000 books to young people throughout the area.

The Books for Keeps Book Sale is the organization's biggest fundraiser of the year. During the sale, donated books that cannot be given to children are sold to buy books the kids can use.

Local alumni volunteers may choose to help during one of two shifts on Saturday, August 24:
8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
1:00 to 5:30 p.m.

Note that volunteers will need to wear comfortable shoes and be able to stand for the duration of their shift.

Join the Athens Chapter as it supports this important community program. As always, don't forget to wear your red and black!
