11:00 a.m. to noon

Join UGA alumni and friends for a group tour of the National September 11 Memorial on Saturday, May 18. The tour will be led by UGA College of Environment and Design Dean Daniel Nadenicek and Georgia Tech Professor Emeritus Doug Allen (BLA '71).

The National September 11 Memorial is a tribute to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, at the World Trade Center site, near Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon, as well as the six people killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993.

This special tour will discuss the international competition held in 2003 to select a design for the memorial. One of Allen’s former students, Michael Arad, won the design award for the memorial from more than 5,200 entries.
