The UGA Alumni Association launched its new Educator Appreciation program at Clay Elementary School in Powder Springs, Ga. Oct. 17 and gave out gifts of gratitude to all the educators who are UGA graduates. Both Heidi Hunt and Sandra Mitchell received gifts. Heidi Hunt '92 has been an Art teacher at Clay for 16 years. Sandra (Comeau) Mitchell (BSEH '99, MEd '01) taught special education for three years at Clay. First Friday: Day with the Dawgs was a day long celebration to fire up the dogs. The day began with a Bulldog Breakfast Club with hosts Coach Mark Richt and former football players David Jacobs '06 and Matt Stinchcomb '98. At the end of the breakfast, the special guests posed for pictures with fans. Coach Richt took pictures with the UGA Alumni Association Student Alumni Councel and the UGA Alumni Association staff. Later, Damon Evans '92, '94 handed out spirit items at Tate and Loran Smith '62 and Dan Magill autographed books inside the UGA Bookstore. The event-filled day closed with an evening Pep Rally at Tate Plaza that included Hairy Dog, the UGA Pep Band, Cheerleaders and guest emcee Gil Tyree. There were great giveaways including a Ga/Fl Weekend package with two tickets to the game and airfare, a getaway trip to Jekyll Island and much more! | | | | | | | | | | |

Every April, the UGA Alumni Association pays tribute to the many UGA alums that support the fine work of the University as employees. The ninth annual Workin' Like a Dawg Breakfast for UGA alumni employees was held Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at the Georgia Center for Continuing Eduation. UGA won the Governor's cup award for the highest contribution per employee in the category of 9,001 plus number of employees for the 2006-2007 State Charitable Contributions program.
