UGA Alumni Association Jacksonville, FL Chapter hosted a UGA Reception on October 28 in honor of the Georgia vs. Florida Game. In true "Gator Hater" style, gator tail was served.

On Saturday, October 14, 2006, the UGA Alumni Association Multicultural Programs hosted its inaugural Jazz on the Lawn Homecoming gathering. Paired with the smooth sounds of John Dunn and the Jazzmen and great food, despite the outcome of the game, there was much Bulldog spirit.

The UGA Alumni Association was thrilled to host Darius Weems in its Sky Suite for the October 7, 2006 Georgia vs. Tennessee game. Darius is know by many from his "Darius Goes West" adventure when in 2005 he and a group of young college students traveled across the country in a wheelchair-accessible RV to test accessibility in America.

The UGA Alumni Association Multicultural Programs hosted its second annual Game Watching party on Saturday, September 30 at Fox Sport Grill in Atlantic Station. UGA alumni and friends had a great time as they cheered on the Dawgs to beat Ole Miss.

Nearly 30 alumni and friends gathered at Loca Luna in Midtown Atlanta to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month on Tuesday, September 206, 2006. The fiesta included remarks by Luis Aguilar '79, attorney and UGA Alumni Association Board Member and salsa dance tips from Sophia Pando '05. The group enjoyed food, door prizes and dancing to music provided by DJ Gary Braner of Music to Remember.

For over 60 years, the UGA Alumni Association has annually recognized distinguished alumni who have demonstrated outstanding loyalty and service to the University of Georgia. Justice Robert Benham '70 and Monte Markham '57 ,'69 each received the Alumni Merit Award; the Faculty Service Award was given to Tom Rodgers '67, '69 and Jane Willson received the Friend of UGA Award. The Association also presented proclamations to four recent Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship recepients, Doug Jackson, Phillip Benson Ham III, Teerawit Supakorndej and Yunjiang Jiang. The 2006 recepient of the Honda Award for swimming and diving, Mary Elizabeth DeScenza '06 also received a proclamation.
