Renelda Batts, incoming freshman and graduate of Westside High School in Augusta, GA is the recipient of an Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship. The UGA Alumni Association is proud to once again support the South Campus Tailgate Sept. 15 at Legion Field. Through member support, the Association is able to provide funds to numerous student and alumni activities as well as scholarships and fellowships. Hosted by the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and the College of Family and Consumer Sciences, the Tailgate will start three hours before kick-off of the UGA - vs. Western Carolina game. White Glove Dinners
The UGA Alumni Association encourages you to join the UGA Libraries this fall for an intimate dinner and presentation. Every Friday night before a home football game guests will enjoy dinner with friends then slip on white gloves to peruse through a special collection of books, rare manuscripts, maps and
photographs.

Welcome New Women's Golf Coach
Kelley Hester '95, a standout golfer for Georgia in the 1990s was named UGA head women's golf coach. A native of Macon, Ga., Hester was a member of Georgia teams which captured 1993 and 1994 SEC Championships and finished fourth at the 1993 NCAA Championships. She posted 21 top-20 individual finishes in 40 events played from 1993-96.



The UGA Alumni Association and a group of seniors have formed SoloSENIORS to foster interaction and networking among mature single professionals. The group is open to unmarried men and women at least 50 years of age who are members of the UGA Alumni Association.

Moroccan Discovery: From the Imperial Cities to the Sahara
Nov. 27 - Dec. 10
Encounter Morocco's ancient ruins and sacred mosques, endless desert and storied mountains, imposing kasbahs and spirited souks. Robert Maxwell "Max" Walker was born Feb. 12, 2007 to Robert '00 and Kristen (Evans) Walker of Macon. He weighed 6 lbs. 8 oz. and joins big brother Trystan.

Alumna Wins Emmy
Charu Kumarhia '99, a reporter for WLOS in Asheville, NC won an Emmy June 23, 2007 for "Remembering Mitch Carver" - a series of stories about an army pilot from Leicester, NC shot down in Iraq. The Emmy was awarded for "Best Continuing Coverage."

First Friday: Day with the Dawgs Aug. 31 promises to be unlike any before! A Bulldog Breakfast Club with hosts Coach Richt, David Jacobs '06 and Matt Stinchcomb '98 will kick off the event-filled day building up to an evening Pep Rally at Tate Plaza. Special guests throughout the day include, Damon Evans '92, '94, Dan Magill '42, Loran Smith '62, the Pep Band, Hairy Dog, UGA Cheerleaders and much more! The Bulldog Breakfast Club with Coach Richt is open only to UGA Alumni Association members, the cost is $5 and registration is now being accepted online.

*Membership Mania
A $500 prize awaits the UGA Alumni Chapter or Club that signs up the most new members during a five-month membership drive. Awards will be given to the Chapter or Club that tallies the most new members and the Chapter or Club that has the largest percentage of membership growth during the campaign. See who is in the lead. The contest ends Dec. 31, 2007.

Faculty and Staff Authors' Reception
Join the UGA Alumni Association and the UGA Bookstore for the fourth annual Faculty and Staff Authors' Reception Sept. 26 at 3:30 p.m. at the UGA Bookstore. If you have published a book in the last 24 months, please

*UGA Teacher Appreciation Program
The UGA Alumni Association is creating a new series to recognize UGA graduates working in K-12 education in Georgia. If you are a teacher or administrator in the Athens/Clarke/Oconee areas contact Wanda Darden or in the metro Atlanta area, contact Meredith Carr and the Association organize a UGA Teacher Appreciation event at your school.

Athens CVB Needs Feedback
The Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) recently conducted market research to determine what is most unique about Athens and what kind of experience visitors have while in the city. The CVB developed a new logo to brand Athens. Feedback from UGA alumni is essential to completing the new look of the CVB. Please take a few moments to respond to the CVB's online survey.

RFBD Learning Through Listening Tours
The UGA Alumni Association is a proud sponsor of the Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFBD) program. The Association encourages you to take part in the RFBD Listening Tours scheduled for Sept. 6 and Oct. 10 at 8:30 a.m. at 120 Florida Ave., Athens, Ga. The sessions usually last about an hour and are informal. For more information on RFBD and the Listening Tours, please call (706) 549-1953.

UGA Capital Campaign
The University of Georgia has surpassed the $500 million milestone in its Archway to Excellence Campaign. President Michael F. Adams praised the commitment of alumni and friends who helped the university reach its target early. Click here for more information.

Do you live in the Anderson, Greenville or Spartanburg areas of South Carolina? If so, the UGA Alumni Association would like to get you involved in the Upstate, SC Chapter. The UGA Alumni Association is also seeking a few good Dogs in Jackson County or Henry County, GA. If you reside in either of the above mentioned areas and are interested in establishing a UGA Alumni Association Chapter, please contact Tami Gardner.

No One Should Bark Alone
As fall approaches, thoughts turn toward the space "between the hedges." Join fellow UGA graduates and enthusiasts to watch the televised football games and cheer on the Bulldogs. The UGA Alumni Association has a block of 250 tickets available for purchase to the Georgia/Western Carolina game, Sept. 15. The Association also has a block of 350 seats for the Georgia/Troy homecoming game. You must be an Alumni Association member to purchase tickets which are $40 per person.

Enjoy food and fun with fellow Association members at the Wray-Nicholson house three hours before the Georgia-Western Carolina kick-off. $10 per person. Children five and under are free. Alumni Association Supports LEAD Program
The UGA Alumni Association assisted the Terry College of Business in joining a group of elite business schools around the country and hosting the Leadership, Education and Development (LEAD) Program in Business. LEAD recruits outstanding students from traditional as well as under-represented diverse communities to expose them to careers in business.

*Save the Date Game Watching Party
Don't miss the third annual Multicultural Game Watching Party. Watch the Bulldogs as they take on Tennessee Oct. 6. It will be an exciting day of mixing, mingling, eating and cheering on the Dawgs in a private room at a location to be determined.


*Jazz on the Lawn
The UGA Alumni Association Multicultural Programs is bringing back the renowned John Dunn and the Jazzmen band for Jazz on the Lawn Nov. 3 from 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Wray-Nicholson House. Celebrate UGA Homecoming 2007 as the sun sets on Athens.

2008 Multicultural Alumni Conference
Mark your calendars for Feb. 22 - 24, 2008 for MAC '08 at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education. All former members of the African American Choral Ensemble are encouraged to perform in the 20th Anniversary Concert. Also, all former counselors of BEST will gather for a reunion as a part of the conference.
