My wife, Ginger, received her M.S. in Botany from UGA in 1986. A couple of months ago, when she was suffering from cancer, the Alumni Association helped me reach out to UGA alumni who work for the federal government. You helped me post my appeal for donations of leave time so she could remain an employee in good standing of the National Park Service. Thanks to you and others, enough leave was donated to keep her on the payroll through Dec. 30. It turned out to be more than enough. Ginger passed away early on Christmas morning. Even though she is gone, I will never forget your kindness.
Happy New Year,
Peter B. Howell

It seems barely possible that 28 years has passed since graduating from UGA. When I arrived back in the Charlotte area back in 1981 after finishing at MCG, there were of course no SEC scores in the paper (anywhere else for that matter), and only ACC basketball! As a result of further training and career, I simply lost touch though more recently I visit several UGA fans in Atlanta every month at a business meeting.

After being approached by Naomi, the local membership person, it seemed like high time to join and make it long-term. So I’m back. And I look forward to becoming more involved with the association . Considering what UGA did for me, it is time that I give back.
