Band Together

Over 50 Chapter and Club volunteers attended the second annual Alumni Leadership Assembly (ALA) held in Athens, Ga. Jan. 26 - 28. Chapters and Clubs were recognized for their hard work throughout the year.

Inaugural Chapter and Club Awards of Excellence
Known for its Bulldogs and Grits and its efforts with the Dawgs Feeding Dogs Campaign, the Columbus, OH Club received the 2005-06 Club of Excellence Award. The president of the Columbus, Ohio Club is Caroline Clabaugh '73.

The Washington, DC Chapter , also known as the DC Dawgs, was awarded the Chapter of Excellence due to its high activity in the community and participation with events. The DC Dawgs initiated the UGA Book Club and the First Thursday Dinner Club, both of which are being implemented by other Chapters and Clubs.

Among other events, the DC Chapter has hosted Game Watching Parties during every televised football game, they have challenged other alumni organizations to sporting events on the National Mall, they have hosted UGA students when they were visiting DC for the Alternative Spring Break program, they have participated in multiple community service projects, they have gathered to cheer for the Bulldog teams when they were in town, they have organized Bulldog Breakfast Club events with Georgia faculty and Senator Johnny Isakson '66, they hosted a sold out Holiday Social and welcomed alumni who had recently relocated to Washington.

Regional Volunteer of the Year
In recoginition of her time and efforts spent, on behalf of UGA, establishing, maintaining and strengthening the local alumni group, Lindsay Moss '00, Washington, DC Chapter president, received the Association's first Regional Volunteer of the Year. The Association acknowledges and greatly appreciates Moss for all she has done including representing the University with the highest standards, for assisting other graduates new to Washington and for epitomizing what it means to be dedicated to one's alma mater. Through Lindsay's leadership, organizational skills, creativity and simply tenacity she has turned the DC Chapter into the Top Dawg UGA alumni group in the country.

Lindsay Moss '00, the DC Chapter president, was presented with the "Inaugural Chapter of Excellence Award" in appreciate of the efforts of the alumni organization in our nation's capital.

Alumni volunteers that work with the chapter and club network attended the 2007 Alumni Leadership Assembly for a weekend training and motivational program. Graduates from as far away as Southern California and Detroit participated and as close by as Athens and Atlanta.
John Finley '78, the UGA Alumni Association associate executive director of operations, presented Brian Fuller '98, the Jacksonville Chapter president with the Chapter of Excellence Honorable Mention certificate for all that the alumni organization has accomplished during the past year.

The Inaugural "Regional Volunteer of the Year Award" was given to the DC Chapter president, Lindsay Moss '00, in recognition of her time and accomplishments on behalf of the UGA Alumni Association.
